DO NOT PAY TAX TWICE ON FOREIGN INCOME

If you are domiciled and resident in the United Kingdom, you must pay income tax and capital gains tax on your worldwide income and gains. There is no exception to it. But for most individuals, matters become complicated when they have different scenarios, and guidance on the HMRC website about Tax on foreign income is unable to give a definite answer.

From a broad perspective, if you live in the UK, you are an ordinary resident for tax purposes and should pay tax on UK income. If you are born in the UK or a British National or have migrated and will make the UK your permanent home, you are domiciled in the UK and should pay tax on worldwide income. Even if you are not British National but have lived in the UK for at least 15 of the 20 tax years, you are deemed domiciled in the UK and have to pay tax on all foreign income and gains in the United Kingdom. This is just a general snapshot; please call us for specific advice.
